City of Dublin to Form Sister City Focus Group

The City of Dublin is establishing a community focus group to help identify individuals interested in volunteering to develop a Sister City framework.

Sister City relationships are formal long-term partnerships between two communities in two countries. These partnerships often seek to enhance trade, business, educational, and cultural exchanges between the two communities. Sister cities are typically identified by finding commonalities between each city regarding their histories, economies, or other characteristics.

Sister city relationships are often developed and managed by a group of local residents, who volunteer their time and efforts to identify potential sister city relationships, outcomes, and fundraising opportunities. Since 1987, the City of Dublin has had an informal relationship with Bray, Ireland, a relationship originally cultivated by the former Dublin Sister City Association.

The Sister City Focus Group will help brainstorm potential objectives of a sister city program and help to develop the framework for selecting a potential sister city relationship.

The Focus Group will meet two to three times, with the first meeting tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Noon to 1 p.m., at the Dublin Civic Center (100 Civic Plaza). Lunch will be provided.

The City is looking for 8-10 people who either live or work in Dublin or own a Dublin business to participate in the Focus Group. If you are interested in participating in the Sister City Focus Group, please email your interest to John.Stefanski@dublin.ca.gov or call 925-833-6650 by Thursday, April 20, 2023.
